1. Do I need to remove my chain?
We have never had a problem with either chain or belt
drive. If you have a drive shaft while we have never
had anyone report a problem but please check with the
dealer
2. Will it hurt my engine?
If the transmission is in neutral nothing turns but the
tire and chain/belt. There is no torque on the trans so
there is no heat generated.
3. Will my bike fit?
The Handi Hauler will tow most bikes. If you have a very
small front wheel (scooter) let us know we will shrink the
Handi-Hauler to fit at no charge.
4. What if I don't have a 2" receiver?
At this time we do not offer a Handi Hauler for a 1.25"
receiver. The main problem is the weight restriction
on a class 1 or 2 receiver. A big bike weighs up to 700
pounds and the weight on the Handi Hauler is about
60% of the total bike weight.
We now have 1.25" Handi-Hauler But please keep the
tongue weight of your bike in mind.
5. Can I back up using the Handi Hauler?
Yes but the Handi Hauler acts like a very small trailer
and can jackknife very quickly.
6. Can I tow my Super Bike?
Yes
7. Will towing my bike with the Handi Hauler add
miles to my bike?
On most bikes the speedometer runs off he front wheel so
the answer is no. But some bikes now run the
speedometer from the transmission so miles may be added
8. How fast can you ship the Handi Hauler?
We ship the next work day.
9. Will my rear tire wear out?
The rear tire while it is on the ground it is only rolling.
There is very little weight on the tire due to the fact
that there is no rider. There is also no wear due to the fact
that the wheel is not accelerating or breaking your bike.
10. Do you accept Credit Cards ?
Yes we have a secure server and accept all major
cards. We also accept checks, Money Orders, Pay-Pal,
Cash (please don't send cash in the mail)
but we do not ship till payment has cleared our bank.
11. I have a 1.25 receiver can I use an adaptor.
Please do not. Using an adaptor puts undue pressure on
your receiver. It also causes the bike to be further out and
changing the angle of the retaining straps.
We now have a 1.25" Handi-Hauler
12. Can I tow my bike using the rear wheel?
NO. The Handi Hauler need to use the front wheel. If
you tow using the rear wheel the bike has no way to
turn and follow the tow vehicle
13. How do I strap the wheel down if it's solid?
Easy just use a ratchet strap from the front axle
through the gusset on the Handi-Hauler to the other
side of the axle. And tighten
14. Do I need lights on my bike?
Though I don't claim to know the laws in all states
here is a link to California's law
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc24605.htm
(c) Whenever any motor vehicle is towing another motor
vehicle, stop lamps and turn signal lamps are not required
on the towed motor vehicle, but only if a stop lamp and a
turn signal lamp on each side of the rear of the towing
vehicle is plainly visible to the rear of the towed vehicle
15. What stops the bike from going into gear while it
is being towed
With the motor not running even if you hit a pot hole the
synchronizers in the transmission would never line up.
A good test is take the bike for a ride when you are
moving put the bike in neutral and shut the engine off
you will find it impossible to put the bike in gear without
using the clutch. (please do not do this in traffic)
